Firecrackers Captains
Every team needs a captain. That
being said, I gave everyone a chance to vote for this seasons captain
after the Championship game last season, and the results are in:
you chose Antonio Favela! Antonio took in more 40% of all votes
cast, double that of the next highest vote getter.
Antonio's responsibilities now include the
normal actions of calming out of control players, being vocal on the
field, providing leadership to our players, being the liaison between
the referee and our players, and winning the coin toss, etc.
He has also accepted the charge to provide words of inspiration after
each game in the form of a Captain's Log, to be found later on this
website.
Antonio has a rich history of soccer, being
a founding member of the SJ Firecrackers. He also played for
countless seasons on our predecessor, the Kairos, as well as recently
winning the CAA championship with the undefeated Super Chavelas.
In addition to Antonio, there will be a
co-captain for each game. This co-captain will vary from game to
game, and will be chosen from his performance in the previous game.
We will use the "Man of the Match" title from the SJFirecrackers website
to select the co-captain for the next week. Antonio's co-captain
will share all the responsibilities of the captain, including a
Captain's Log.
