Club Foot To Play In City Finals: UPDATE

As many of you might know already, our brother team
from the Thursday night league has made it to the finals! We
completed a complete turnaround after starting the season 0-3.
Even 2/3 the way through the schedule at 3-4-1, playoffs did not look
like they were in the picture. But after winning the final 4 games
of the regular season, outscoring our opponents a whopping 18-2, we
found ourselves in the semifinals against a team that had previously
beaten us 4-3 in a comeback win. There would be no comeback win
this time and we won 5-2.

Excerpt from email from Club Foot skipper, Martin
Mannion:
"Team,
I just got word from the league office
that as a result of the incident in the other match, both Primavera and
Deportivo Santos have been tossed and Club Foot has been declared the
winner of the 2007 Soccer Season, taking our rightful spot on the podium
once again. A less than satisfying way to cap off the crazy season that
it was, but for all of those who participated in the magnificent rally
that took place in the second half of the season (and more importantly
all those who gave it their all from the start of the season), the net
result seems a just reward for the effort that was expended and the
dedication and determination that was displayed in all of those games. I
don't think any of us doubted that even if the final game was played, we
were about to steamroll the competition on the way to the trophy.
Well done team. Despite the
disorganization of this year's league, all the bye weeks, the roster
changes, the short and then extended season, the injuries, etc., in the
end it's another year of Club Foot football that we can be proud of.
