Firecracker's Press Release: Favela Passes Captain's Band to Travis
Bianchi
August 6th 2008
Travis Bianchi was named Captain of the San Jose
Firecrackers, Wednesday, as previous Captain Antonio Favela passed on
his duties.
"Antonio did a tremendous job as Captain of the
Firecrackers, we just thought it was a good time to have some fresh
blood as our skipper." John Basanese said.
"Mr. Favela's role within the team should not change
one bit. We need him to continue to be a vocal leader, and I
expect that he will."
The band will now be worn by Bianchi, who has anchored
the defense of the Firecrackers for several years, and who is easily the
league's top 'keeper.
Basanese thinks his natural leadership made him an
easy choice to continue what Antonio started.
"Travis leads by example. He's at every game, he
works hard, and nothing short of a broken face will keep him off the
field. He has his hand on the team's pulse, knows each player, and
is vocal back in the goal. Perhaps most importantly, he has the
respect of his teammates. All these things will make him a great captain
for us."
The change is effective immediately, and Travis'
captains log will be started very soon.
